Review: Kebab Korner, Intercontinental Marine Drive

Kebab Korner has been one of my favourite restaurants for Indian food and on my recent visit here, I was so delighted that it still maintains the standards even after all these years.
Dropped by on Saturday night after making prior reservations. We were in for a surprise, there were ghazal singers performing live and they had set the atmosphere for a perfect dinner.

With a gorgeous view of Marine Drive and soft melodious ghazals playing in the backdrop, we started to place our order. We ordered for – the Butter Garlic Tandoori Jhinga, perfectly cooked tiger prawns in lots of butter, really yummy, the Murgh Afghani: succulent pieces of chicken breast cooked in cream and yellow spices, this one is a must try, the Murgh Kakori Kebab – minced chicken served like seekh, every bite of this melts in the mouth, so so good! We also tried the Tandoor Lamb Chops – again, cooked to perfection with a smoked flavour. For mains, they recommended the biryanis since they currently have a biryani festival going on. We tried the Murgh Sufiyani Biryani which came accompanied with dal makhani, raita and saalan, a very big portion so get ready to enter foodcoma!

For desserts we tried the Gulkand Panacotta, something different, flavoured panacotta topped with a dollop of gulkand, a great option for Paan lovers. On our way out, we were offered paan as well, alongwith candies, which were stacked in huge sacks by the entrance. So much fun!

Our meal was an absolute meat feast and we are looking forward to going back here with friends and family soon. A special mention to the amazing service, well informed, polite, prompt and very helpful.

Product Review: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50

The best investment you can make, is in a good sunblock. And our favourite is this Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 50+ Review & Price
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 50+ Review & Price

The sunscreen provides broad spectrum protection from the harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun. The best part about it is that light weight and a non shiny finish, so it doesn’t make your skin appear oily once you apply it. A small pea size amount is enough for your entire face.

It is water proof, sweat proof and has an extremely light fragrance which is great! One of the other positives is that it doesn’t leave a white cast on your skin after application which most other sunscreens do.

The packaging of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 50+ is quite sturdy and sleek. A white and blue tube with a semi-transparent screw cap. The nozzle is ideal for removing adequate amount of the cream for every use.

Overall, we would definitely recommend this product for avoiding skin burns and skin tanning.

Product: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 50+

Price: Rs.499

Quantity : 88 ml

Buy here: Amazon | Flipkart

Tip: Apply sunscreen generously before going outdoors. It takes approximately 15 – 30 minutes for your skin to absorb the sunscreen and protect you. If you wait until you are in the sun to apply sunscreen, your skin is unprotected and can burn. Use sunscreen on an everyday basis for keeping your skin healthy and sun-proof!

Review: The Nutcracker

Some places just give you a good vibe even before you step in. This was a feeling we got while we waited for a table on a Wednesday evening outside The Nutcracker.

CSC_0017A hole in the wall eatery, this one is a hidden gem. Thoughtfully done up interiors and a romeo-juliet like mini faux balcony next to the brightly lit signboard, made us feel extremely happy to be here.

BlackBean Burger

Without much ado, we placed our order. One Three Cheese Omelette, One Asian Salad, Two Burgers – BlackBean and Soya Spinach Jalapeno, Buttermilk Pancakes and the Seven Layer Cookie. Within minutes our table was filled with exciting looking dishes. The Three Cheese Omelette, which you could choose rolled or fluffy, was quite good but not the best we’ve had. We’d like some more cheese please! The Asian Salad was mind blowing, tasty, tangy, fresh with crunchy veggies tossed in a spicy Asian dressing! The burgers, although a little under seasoned, had a big patty and were not too bready.

The Pancakes were served with Blueberry Compote, butter and Maple Syrup. A little eggy which we could totally overlook as they still tasted yummy. The star of our meal was the Seven Layer Cookie, layered with biscuit crumble, gooey chocolate, butterscotch, almonds and served with a scoop of Ice Cream.

Overall, kudos to the service at The Nutcracker. If they work a little more on their flavours, we are sure this one is going to be crackling!

Review: Mexiloko

Mexiloko's Slushy
Mexiloko’s Slushy

Mexican food, ah, most places don’t get it right. And the number of places that serve Mexican cuisine in our city can be literally counted on our fingers.

Mexiloko, a QSR, that recently opened at Colaba Causeway caught our attention and we hopped in to try out the food.

Bright colorful decor with a couple of tables, Mexiloko is primarily a take away place. The menu is extensive with Nachos, Tacos, Empanadas, Burritos, Mex’d Up Bowls and more.

Fish Taco
Fish Taco

We started our meal with the Golden Delight Nachos. Crispy and cheesy, they were good, although not the best that we have had. Next up was the Lime and Coriander Fish Taco. Juicy Basa in a crispy taco topped with cheese and lettuce, the best dish of the evening!

Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla
Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla

The Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla was flavorful and delicious too but not better than the Fish Taco. We also tried the Zesty Soya Mex’d Up Bowl. Mince Soya served with tomato Mexican rice, beans, salsa, lettuce and pico. Although the taste was good, we found the entire dish a bit too dry for our palate.

Churros
Churros

We saved the best for the last, Churros with Chocolate Sauce. For 60 bucks only, this one is a steal. Cinnamon and Chocolate are a match made in heaven.

Overall, Mexiloko is a great option for a quick snack and beats all others at their price point. They serve 5 different types of salsas that vary in flavour and hotness. Oh my Jalapeno was our favourite from the 5 and for the spice lovers, the Firecracker salsa will definitely crack you up!
