Our undying and unconditional love for Pizza Express compelled us to try out the newest Bandra entrant, The Bandra Project. Went here for lunch and we were surprised to see it completely packed on a weekday afternoon!
After a wait for 15 minutes at the bar, and a pint of Bira down, we were finally escorted to a table. The ambiance is bright and happy and it’s quite a spacious place. The menu is very interesting and extensive as compared to Pizza Express. Since two out of three of us were vegetarian, we decided to try the vegetarian fare and I must add that I didn’t miss the non vegetarian too much!
Rosemary and Mushroom Flatbread
Spaghetti Aglio Olio
We started our meal with the Rosemary Bread and Mushroom Dip. This was a flatbread accompanied with the most comforting Mushroom and Cheese dip, pickled olives and a small bowl of salad. Next we tried the Spaghetti Aglio Olio, not the best I’ve had but nothing to complaint about either. It was just fine. Coming to a sprig of Pizza Express and not trying the pizzas, not possible. So we called for the classic, Margherita Pizza. It was just as we expected it to be, delicious!
For desserts, we had the cheesecake. It was swiped off the table within a few seconds, needless to say it was sinful. We are waiting to go back there and try their non vegetarian fare.
The service was polite and helpful, since they were completely packed, it wasn’t as prompt, but we can excuse that this time.
Overall, this one is the feather in the cap of Bandra’s ever evolving food scene and you must try it out.

When we heard that the decade old, Out of the blue, Bandra is changing management, we were both nervous and excited.
The interiors of the place are changed completely, so has the menu. From a cozy, romantic diner, Out of the blue is now a casual, brightly lit restaurant. A wine cellar on one side and tables spread throughout the outside section, dare we say that the canopy style seating was highly missed.
The menu had sizzlers but they were not available and we hear that they will no longer be available at Out Of The Blue (noooo!). We decided to try out some of the new starters, the Bravia Potatoes topped with smoked sofrito and garlic saffron aioli and the Asian Spring Veggies Bao with sesame seeds, crushed peanuts and lettuce. The Bravia Potatoes were good, we loved the saffron aioli that they were topped with. The Bao however, was bland and no dipping sauce was served with it.
For mains, since sizzlers were not available, we settled for the pizzas and pastas. We tried the Bianco and the Harissa Roasted Pulled Chicken Pizza. No choice of crusts were offered, again, a disappointment. Taste wise, both the pizzas were quite average.The pastas on the contrary were spectacular. The Gnocchi, the Aglio Olio and the Arrabiata Spaghetti.
Baked Philly Cheesecake
Kahlua & Baileys Mousse
Coming to the desserts, we tried the Baked Philly Cheesecake and the Kahlua and Baileys Mousse. Again, the desserts were great, cheesecake was smooth, consistent and not grainy. The mousse had a strong flavour of Baileys and that’s why we loved it.
Overall, this new face of Out Of The Blue had some hits and some misses. With a little bit of polishing, we think they might be able to shine as bright as the old one.
P.S. Please bring back the sizzlers or we will be heartbroken!

At 1441 Pizzeria, you can make your pizza and eat it too! And if you’re fussy about set toppings on your pizza, then this place is your heaven.
We dropped by at the newly opened 1441 Pizzeria in Andheri recently and we had quite a fun time. The concept of this Pizzeria is very simple; choose your sauce, your toppings (unlimited), the crispness of the base, your cheese and voila! A perfect pizza with all your favourite toppings is here for you to enjoy.
We tried two variants on our visit, one from the Classic range and one from their Gourmet range. From the classics, we chose the Mama sauce, which is a spicy sauce – pretty impressive we must say!
We went with our favourite vegetarian toppings, olives, jalapenos and mushrooms on a crispy base with Mozzarella Cheese (Classic range is served with Mozzarella). The Chef there helped us put out Pizza in their wood fired oven and there we had our classic pizza with our favourite toppings ready. The Pizza tasted great with the perfectly crispy thin base and toppings of our choice!
Next up was a Gourmet Pizza where we opted for the non – vegetarian option with again an array of delicious gourmet toppings. We added almost all the non vegetarian toppings from the roast chicken, curried chicken, chicken pepperoni, mutton alongwith the regular pizza sauce and four cheeses. How can anything with so many toppings taste anything but delicious! Kudos to us and their Pizzas!
Moving to the desserts we called for the Blueberry Pannacotta and the Crème Brulee. The Pannacotta was a tad too sweet with no tanginess from the blueberries but the Crème Brulee was pretty good. We were almost done with our meal when the server insisted that we try their Nutella Pizza. How could we say no? And glad we didn’t as it was Heavenly! Nutella smothered on a thin and soft pizza base with fruit toppings, totally recommend it!
The staff here is pretty friendly too, they patiently taught us how to make our pizzas. Special mention to the hygiene they maintain at their Pizzeria, everything looked and tasted fresh too.
Overall we loved their pizzas and their desserts. They also have Dough Balls – two variants that we shall try on our next visit!

We were recently invited to try the new menu at California Pizza Kitchen (CPK). Here’s a sneak peak into the recent additions.
Our favourites were the Black Bean Quesadillas and the Chicken Caesar Sandwich in Cheese bread. The Waldorf Salad, although colourful, missed the crunch! The Lettuce Wrap was tangy and delicious and would’ve tasted better if it was slightly warmer. Surprisingly, we were disappointed with the pizzas and would suggest our readers to stick to the classics and not experiment with the new additions.
We loved the fact that all the dishes were served with sides, either salad, fries or dips. Overall, we appreciate CPK’s attempt to try out something new, we love their inhouse baked breads (that are also for sale) and the fresh ingredients used in all the dishes!
Mia Cucina, translates to ‘My Kitchen’ has been in Bandra for a couple of years now and is a favourite of most Italian cuisine fans. It feels great to know that they now have an outlet in Powai as well, and this one, is bigger and better! With a bar right in the centre and walls adorned with paintings/ photographs that are for sale, the outlet is bright and well lit. We were promptly directed to a table and handed the menus, bar and food. The bar menu had a fair list of cocktails, mocktails, wine and beer. The food menu was what made us really hungry; Antipasti, Salads, Pasta/Risotto, Grills and more! To start with we ordered for our drinks, Kiwi Mint Martini and the Rosemary and Orange Martini. Very flavourful and not too stiff, just the way we like it.
Moving on, we started our meal with the Bombil Fritto – Fried pieces of Bombay Duck, crisp from the outside and tender once you bite into them; the Bruschetta Pollo con Olivata – Chicken, olive pesto and mozzarella bruschetta, crunchy, cheesy and delicious!
Amongst the pizzas we tried the Prosciutto e rucola – pizza topped with italian ham, rocket leaves, mozzarella and the Quattro formaggi topped with mozzarella, gorgonzola, pecorino and parmesan. Loved the thin and crispy crust which didn’t make the pizzas too heavy.

GoodHome Magazine organized a bloggers meet with editor Ronitaa Dhanu at Botticino, Trident, BKC. An all women’s meet, everything from homes, professional backgrounds, blogging interests to food, lifestyle, home decor was discussed.
The three course menu was a delight! Ronitaa kept the atmosphere of the place alive with her chirpy, fun loving attitude and was a perfect host.
A great event for networking, indulging in some delicious food and wine, and sharing ideas, we look forward to more of these!
Arthurs Theme, when we first heard the name, we imagined it to be a rustic European restaurant with intricate décor. It certainly isn’t. Couldn’t understand why it was called a ‘theme’ restaurant as the makers had clearly not paid too much attention to the ambience.
Soon after we entered, we were directed to a table for two. After taking a good look at the menu and browsing through each page we asked the server for a recommendation to which we got no response. After a lot of contemplation, we decided to call for the Gerard – Golden fried prawns served with a tangy spicy sauce and William III – Chicken steak cooked in brown sauce served with rice and steamed veggies. On our request, they replaced the steamed veggies with fries.
After close to twenty odd minutes our order arrived. The Prawns were delicious and crisp and the presentation was commendable. The Chicken Steak was well cooked; however, an extra serving of brown sauce could have helped. The meal was filling as well as appetizing; we enjoyed every bite we took.
Overall, a great place for a formal dinner although a little more work on the ambience would add the cherry on the cake. The service needs to be more knowledgeable, especially when it comes to the menu. If food is your preference, this place will definitely not disappoint you!
