Review: Kitchens of Kangan Fest at Kangan

Kangan, located on the 18th floor of The Westin Mumbai Garden City, is a specialty Indian cuisine or modern Indian cuisine restaurant. The restaurant is hosting a festival called the Kitchens of Kangans at its three properties in Mumbai from the 27 October to 9 November 2014, in Pune from 14 to 28 November 2014 and in Hyderabad from 16 January to 1 February 2015. Chef Shamsher Ahmed (Mumbai), Chef Rakesh Kumar (Hyderabad) and Chef Narayan Salunke (Pune) have put together a menu of their specialities for this festival.

main courseWe were invited by the The Westin team to dine at the restaurant. The magnificent view from the restaurant was indeed a good start to the meal. We started with ordering the kebab platter out of which the Sayadri Murg – succulent Chicken Tikkas, Tarkash Seekh Kebab – Vegetable Seekh Kebabs stuffed with Cheese and the melt-in-the-mouth Dora Kebab – rose petal-flavored lamb botis encased with lamb mince were delish!

Chef Shamsher Ahmed, from Kangan Mumbai and Chef Rakesh Kumar from Kangan Hyderabad, gave us a good insight to the menu that was being served. In the mains, we thoroughly enjoyed the Kali Daal and the Lamb Biryani. We ended our meal with the desserts. Although the Shahi Tukda was too sweet for our liking, the Gulab Patte Ki Kheer made up for its oversweetness.

A special mention to the service, that was prompt and extremely warm.

The Kitchens of Kangan Festival is on till the 9th of November in Mumbai. They have a set meal as well as a la carte. A meal for two would approximately cost about Rs.5,000.
